Matt Martin is Stuart Hall Research Scholar at Birkbeck, University of London, where he is researching uses of dialect in avant-garde poetry. white crag moss is a poetry sequence exploring the topography and history of Ilkley Moor in West Yorkshire, written using Yorkshire dialect with a density that might qualify as a (re)constructed language. Matt's video accompanies his reading of the sequence with captions, a standard English translation, and photographs of the locations that inspired the poetry.
